When the island's main ring road drops down from the crest of Princeville into the Hanalei valley, you'll cross the first of several one-lane bridges on the road that hugs the coastline. You'll pass Lumahai Beach (famous for its dangerous surf, and for "I'm gonna wash that man right outta my hair!" from South Pacific). The road twists and turns, ascends and descends. Eventually you'll find yourselves at the end of the road.
For spectacular views of "Na Pali" (that's Hawaiian for The Cliffs) and the Pacific Ocean, you might want to hike in on the Kalalau trail, which leads along the coast toward the Kalalau Valley. (Alternatively, drive all the way around the island in the other direction, and head up Waimea Canyon to the top. From there—if the fog hasn't set in—you'll see the Kalalau Valley from the top!)
If today is a day for relaxing at the beach, skip the strenuous Kalalau trail, and mosey down to Ke'e Beach.
